Here are a few quick practice pictures for our week 1 homework.  Looking at them, it's harder than I thought to align to the "thirds grid" which I was trying - and introducing a few lines at the same time:

Alignment of the next two different - first on the door and sign, 2nd on the window edge - give a very different picture yet are very similar.  I would like opinions as to which is better and why!

    I think some of the difficulties you mention are due to the fact that because you have mostly photographed buildings and are using a wide angle lens you are suffering from perspective distortion and so the efforts you are making to use the rule of thirds is diluted, have a go at photographing things other than buildings, even things such as a park bench agains the grass or leaves in the road, almost anything that doesn't rely on straight verticals to look 'right' See you later
